Specifying The Just - In - Time Kanban System Using TwoObject - Oriented Modelling
نویسنده
چکیده
Modelling by means of speciication languages is increasingly being recognised as an important phase in system development. It encourages one to think about problems using models organised around real-world situations. The system to be developed should then be consistent, correct and unambiguous with respect to the models produced. The Just-In-Time kanban system is an example of a real-world problem with a multiple-supplier and multiple-client architecture. The purpose of this paper is to use two speciication languages proposed in the literature to model the kanban system. The languages used are LOOPN (Lakos 1991) and Object-Z (Duke, King, Rose, and Smith 1991a). The case study focuses on describing the kanban system in the diierent notations, and thus investigating how well they can express the Just-In-Time system. The kanban system consists of many replicated components, each having the same state space and exhibiting the same behaviour. To describe each and every component in the system would be repetitious and tedious. The ease of describing such a system is discussed in the paper.

Using Electromagnetism Algorithm for Determining the Number of kanbans in a Multi-stage Supply Chain System
This paper studies the multi-stage supply chain system (MSSCM) controlled by the kanban mechanism. In the kanban system, decision making is based on the number of kanbans as well as batch sizes. A kanban mechanism is employed to assist in linking different production processes in a supply chain system in order to implement the scope of just-in-time (JIT) philosophy. For a MSSCM, a mixed-integer...

The survival of any organization depends upon its competitive edge. Even though Lean is one of the most powerful quality improvement methodologies, nearly two-thirds of the Lean implementations results in failures and less than one-fifth of those implemented have sustained results. One of the most significant tasks of top management is to identify, understand and deploy the significant Lean pra...

Kanban systems have been invented by the Japanese Toyota Motor Corporation in the 1950s. Meanwhile, this implementation of the Just-in-Time-principle gained worldwide popularity, reputation and success. At Chemnitz University of Technology, the professor-ship " Modelling and Simulation " investigates such systems and analyses their perfomance according to costs and all the classical performance...
متن کاملDetermining the Optimal Network Partition and Kanban Allocation in JIT Production Lines
One way to reduce costs in high volume production lines is to smooth and balance the material flow by means of controlled inventories. Kanban systems are now being implemented worldwide due to their ability of reducing inventories and production lead times. This paper addresses two fundamental design issues in kanban systems and presents an efficient heuristic method for designing such systems....
متن کاملImplementation of Just in Time Production through Kanban System
Uncertainties brought about by fluctuations in demand and customers’ requirements have led many established companies to improve their manufacturing process by adopting the Kanban system. By doing so, they are able to manufacture and supply the right product, in the right quantity, at the right place and time. Implementation of the Kanban system resulted in reduction of inventory to minimum lev...
